The Haumana ship recently partnered with the surfing team Quicksilver. The Quicksilver Team Director, Stride Wasilewski announced that: "a live surfing boat is the best way to combine pleasure and training." Since the Haumana sails to Tikehau and Rangiroa, the team has found secret surfing sites on Tikehau where the conditions were as good as anywhere throughout Tahiti. The ship provided shuttle boats to the surfing sites and the Quicksilver Team enjoyed surfing under the stars in the Tahitian waters of the Tuamotu Archipelago.

Orient-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises announced the appointment of Eric Pere as the new General Manager of Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa.

Mr. Pere served as resident manager at La Samanna from 1997 until 2000.  Since that time, Pere has held positions as Hotel Manager at the five star Berkeley in London and most recently at the Hotel Port Palace in Monaco. Working in the luxury hospitality industry for over 20 years, Pere brings his wealth of operations and financial management experience to his new position.  He is a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration in Paris, The Institute of Hotel Management International Cornell-Essec (France) and Cornell University in Ithaca. An avid cook and tennis player, Pere enjoys French literature and English history. He is Fluent in French, English and Italian, and is married with two children.

The all-overwater bungalow InterContinental Resort and Thalasso Spa Bora Bora will open as planned on May 1. The resort will have limited occupancy for the first few months while the final touches are put in place. "Le Reef" restaurant and the "Bubble’s Bar" will both be completed during the soft opening, and the newly coined Deep Ocean Spa is slated to open in September.
