EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – The Islands of Tahiti were honored by the readers of Travel + Leisure in the highly anticipated annual World’s Best Awards 2016.  Readers were invited to participate through Travel + Leisure magazine, T+L tablet editions, newsletters, social media, and travelandleisure.com
 
The beautiful and culturally rich island of Moorea was recognized in the “World’s Best Islands - Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific” category. Moorea, one of the 118 islands and atolls that comprise The Islands of Tahiti is just a 30-minute catamaran ride from the main island of Tahiti and is famous for its rich cultural traditions, soaring mountain peaks, lush valleys and stunning twin bays.  
 
 
Hotels and resorts in The Islands of Tahiti claimed all five spots in the “Best Resort Hotels in the South Pacific” category. Taking the top spot is The Brando on the spectacular atoll of Tetiaroa, followed by Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa and InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa. “The South Pacific often lands high on travelers’ bucket lists. The views of the ocean, the fresh cuisine, and the simple ease of accommodations are hard to beat,” noted editors.
 
The Brando was also recognized in the prestigious “World’s Best - Top 100 Hotels” category.
 
Paul Gauguin Cruises, operator of the highest-rated and longest continually sailing luxury cruise ship in the South Pacific, the m/s Paul Gauguin, took the top spot at in the “Best Ocean Cruise Line – Midsize Ship” category.  Also honored in the small and midsize ship category was Windstar Cruises, Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. In the “World’s Best Large Ship Ocean Cruise Line” category, partners Crystal Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises were included. 
 
The magazine’s prestigious annual readers’ survey reveals favorite cities, hotels, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, airports, and more. The list of World’s Best Awards winners is available at www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best and in the August issue of Travel + Leisure magazine.
