May 4-8, 2006: Billabong-Pro Surfing Tournament, Tahiti
The quiet village of Teahupoo (west coast of Tahiti) will host the event. Local surfers will be invited to compete with the best surfers in the world during the trials. Surfers will face one of the most respected reef waves in the world. The size of the waves have earned the site the moniker "Jaws of Water." For more information, please contact fedesurf@mail.pf.

May 10-12, 2006: Celebration of the arrival of the Bounty, Austral Archipelago
Histroric reconstitution of the first European arrival on the island of Tubuai (Austral Islands). Exhibit via books, photos, handicrafts, and a movie show. Email GIE Tahiti Tourisme for further details.

May 27, 2006: Raid Moorea 3rd edition, Moorea

June 2-July 29, 2006: Heiva I Tahiti, Tahiti
The largest cultural festival in all of Tahiti is taking place at beautiful To'ata Square in Papeete, Tahiti. This year's Heiva will feature the assembly of the best dance troupes.  In addition to the dance competitions there are sporting events, cultural demonstrations, cuisine and artisans exhibit. Meanwhile, the Heiva Des Artisans is held at the Aorai Tinihau in the city of Pirae and will unite the best handicrafts artists from the 5 archipelagoes.
